NIE Number

In Spain, any foreigner wishing to carry out certainlegal or administrative activities needs to obtain a NIE (ForeignerIdentification Number). This number is personal and exclusive, and it isnecessary to carry out many procedures, both for residents and non-residents.
-A recent color photograph of the applicant's face, size 32 by 26 millimeters, with a plain white background, taken from the front with the head completely uncovered and without dark glasses or any other clothing that could prevent or hinder identification.
-Justification for why you need the NIE (e.g., employment contract, purchase of a property, studies, etc.).
-Form EX-15, duly completed. This form is available on official government websites.
In total, within the Valencian Community, you can find Foreigners' Offices andNational Police Stations in the main cities, such as Valencia, Alicante,Castellón, as well as some smaller offices in Gandía and Elche. These officesare mainly distributed in provincial capitals and other key urban areas.
The fee must be paid before the appointment. The payment must be made at the bank, and the payment receipt must be presented on the day of the appointment. This fee can be found together with the EX-15 form on the same link where the appointment is requested. Once the formalities have been completed at the corresponding office, the NIE will be assigned. In some cases, you will be given the number on the same day; in others, you may receive it by post.
The NIE is personal and non-transferable, and its use must be related to the procedures for which it was requested.
